Bondi Road to the Beach
To the Most Beautiful Beach in the World
Welcome to Bondi Road – the way to the place where we live. Bondi Road leads to Bondi beach which is on the central east coast of Australia ("Down Under"), in the state of New South Wales.
Bondi Road is in Sydney, which is the capital of NSW, and Bondi beach is the world-renowned beach here in Australia.
Bondi Road is only a 20 minutes bus ride from the centre of Sydney, or you can take a train from the Sydney railway station to Bondi Junction and take a downhill 15-minute walk down Bondi Road to the beach passing many of the interesting and varied small shops and restaurants built in the 1940s.
Tourist coaches come from all major cities in Australia down Bondi Road to see Bondi and the other beaches and walkways, the beautiful cliffs and parks, all right on the waters edge.
In Bondi Road restaurants abound to satisfy any preferred gourmet cuisine. Everything from flowers, fruit deep sea diving lessons, tarot readings, massages, and fashion goods can be bought.
The local government Council Chambers is there right next to the Sports ground, the biggest retailer of liquor in New South Wales is there, the local Arts Centre is there. Jewelery can be re-modeled, your hair can be coiffed, special gifts for special friends can be found – all along Bondi Road on the way to the beach. So even if you are not a beach-lover, you will want to find out about all the other attractions along Bondi Road.
Bondi Road has high-rise apartments and accommodation for backpackers, and leads to one of the greatest tourist attractions in Australia. We live only two blocks from Bondi Road, at Tamarama, the next beach to the south. It is a small suburb that has its own secluded beach, and a grassy headland, separating Bondi and Tamarama beaches at the end of Bondi Road.
Bondi Road driveways and walkways lead you to historical Tamarama Beach. Find out how barbed wire affected the early fun fair at "Wonderland city" at the turn of the century.
At the beach end of Bondi Road you will see and learn about the Tamarama Surf Lifesaving Club, and the patrols which take place at all our beaches, and the rescues from dangerous 'rips' and shark attacks which have taken place.
At the end of Bondi Road, the biggest outdoor Sculpture Exhibition in the world is to be found right here, on the coast walk above the cliffs. What a fantastic setting of natural plinths for the hundred sculptures, many from overseas. It is held in November each year at the end of Bondi Road.
From the end of Bondi Road you can see the whales going north to the warm oceans of the Great Barrier Reef, to give birth to their calves. Then they return with their offspring again to the southern oceans for the rest of the season, again past Bondi Road.
We have some of the Most Famous Australian Attractions listed here, as well as some historical places in Australia you may have never heard of, in the Pages of stories and pictures.
